Dartford Half Marathon 2012 (22nd Jul 2012)
Location: Dartford
Host: DartfordHarriers
There were eleven TRACcies at this morning’s Dartford Half Marathon, led home by Adie Waters in a terrific 1.32. Adrian Speller completed his first half marathon in 1.41, while Becky and Debbie represented the fairer sex. John and I had our first run back after injury, and Andy nursed his broken hamstrings back to base.
We’ll have what this means for the club championship and Grand Prix in due course, but the penultimate race is our own marathon on 2nd September. The Maidstone Half Marathon wraps up the series on 14th October – we’re hoping to run a free minibus for this race, so please get your entry in and let the Steve Clarke know nice and early so he can put the plan in motion.

Grand Prix and Club Championships Latest
After last Sunday’s Dartford Half Marathon, there are now a number of club members who have completed the maximum six scoring runs in the club championship.
Adie Waters’ win moves him up to 3rd overall (2nd in v40), but Steve King’s second place brings him level with Andy Stevens overall. If either of them can place 1st or 2nd in either of the last two races, they’ll pick up the extra points that could make the difference! In the v40, second and third are still to play for, but Steve King has the title wrapped up. In v50, Steve Clarke is now in a strong position ahead of John Cooper. Terry Brightwell is likewise in the v60 ahead of Bill Wright.
As for the ladies, Debbie Hatt picked up a couple of extra points to close the gap with Sarah Harmes, but Becky Williams could come up the rails to pip them both if she scores highly in the last two races. Becky has moved ahead of Genevieve Holden in the senior ladies.
In the Grand Prix, the ladies’ team remains in seventh men’s team has dropped a spot to sixth, following an excellent show by the home club, but have managed to extend the gap to paddock Wood. Steve and Adie joined the crowd having scored in six races, and we now have four in the top thirty. Adie also picked up points in the v40, while Terry moves up 7th in the v60. Both Becky and Debbie picked up points and moved up the table.
Plenty of opportunity to grab more points for the club. The ladies have already got more than in last year’s series, and the men are on course to do likewise. So let’s have a big push for the last two races, starting with our marathon on 2nd September and the Maidstone Half on 14th October.
