Events Deal Castle 5mile & Junior 1k Run 2011

Deal Castle 5mile & Junior 1k Run 2011 (6th Nov 2011)

Start time: 11.00

Location: Deal Castle, Seafront, Deal, CT14 7BA

Host: Deal Tri Ltd

There was a great show of 17 TRACcies at this morning’s Deal 5 Mile race, the final event of the 2011 Kent Grand Prix series. Although rain threatened it largely held off, but there was a stiff headwind for the second half. It was a high quality field, with some really quick times at the sharp end, but there were new personal bests for me and Bill at least, as well as many tackling the distance for the first time. Nick Lever was first club member home, and was one of four who had Park Run the day before. Mark Foster turned in a great time, after running the 15 miles to Deal!

We’ll find out later in the week if either team finished the season by climbing the table.

Full TRAC results below – well done everyone! Thanks to Mike Sharpe, who has passed on some photos which can be found on the race page.

There was also a junior fun run, at which the club's young ones did a great job! More on those in a bit... Thanks to Steve King for this round up.

The TRAC juniors put up another fine display in a Deal Tri race this morning, as they have done on so many occasions previously.  On an extremely windy seafront, eight youngsters represented the club in the 1000m junior race preceding the Deal 5.  These included 5-year-old Elijah Moir, who completed the course in 7:05 in the non-competitive (8 & under) category.

Remarkably, in the competitive categories, none of the TRAC athletes was beaten by anyone other than a fellow club member!
