26 miles and 385 yard and 13 mile 192.5 yard distance races available. Both races are BARR Gold Standard accredited. Race licence: 2015-14386.

The races will be run under UK Athletics rules. The minimum age 18 on day of race for Marathon, and age 17 for Half-Marathon. We regret that these races are not suitable for wheelchair athletes owing to short stretches of unpaved surfaces. Both races will have chip timing, baggage storage, and post and pre-race physio will be on hand to work those aching limbs.

The marathon race incorporates the Kent Road Race Grand Prix for ALL categories (Vets AND Senior / Open Age), and the Kent Championships for veteran categories only - please see the full rules on the KCAA website, and please check the rules on eligibility for individual events: The marathon will again form the championship race for the Southern Counties Veterans Athletics Championships – full details on the SCVAC website. For those aged 35 or over who would like to compete for SCVAC medals, the website has details of how to join - the link is Any entrants for SCVAC should please check Championship entrants should remember to collect relevant race identifiers on the day.

Please note: In line with current BARR and UKA guidelines, IPod and MP3 players will be BANNED during this race. Please do not enter the race and then decide to run with headphones or earphones – you may be disqualified, and it may mean the race will not go ahead in future years. Runners in the full marathon should aim to complete within 6 hours – support may be reduced after this time. Any runner reaching half way after 2hrs 50mins may be withdrawn.

PRIZE MONEY IS OFFERED TO THE FIRST MALE AND FEMALE FINISHERS - £75 to the marathon winners and £50 to the half marathon winners. In addition, there will be awards for second and third male and female runners, and also for first placed teams and first placed runners in age group categories for both full and half marathon races. Presentations will take place after the race at 12pm for the half marathon and 1.30pm for the marathon. All finishers will receive a race medal, a technical T-shirt and a goody bag.

We would like to extend our thanks to the following people and organisations, without whom the race would not take place:

  • Fosters Law - we are very pleased to announce that Fosters Law are continuing their commitment to support both these races

  • Thanet District Council

  • Asics - for supplying goody bags

  • High5 sports nutrition - for energy gels

  • Thanet Constabulary - for their help and guidance

  • RAYNET - for their excellence and communications experience

  • The Margate Ambulance services - without whose help we could not stage this event

The myriad of helpers and marshals - who all give up their time voluntarily to ensure all goes smoothly. Please be nice to them out on the route – without them you would not have a race – any runner who is rude to a marshal may well be barred from future races.
