Kent Secondary Schools’ Cross-country Championships (14th Jan 2012)

Location: Kent Secondary Schools’ Cross-country Championships

Host: Kent College, Canterbury

A number of Thanet Roadrunners AC juniors competed in the Kent Secondary Schools’ Cross-country Championships at Kent College, Canterbury, on Saturday 14^th January 2012. 

This time, they were wearing red, rather than TRAC’s sky blue and royal blue, as they were representing Thanet District in the annual competition against Kent’s twelve other school districts.

Starting on the school playing field, the course for all age groups included undulating woodland paths with stony sections and numerous exposed tree roots. 

The finishing positions and race times for the Thanet Roadrunners AC athletes are listed below.  (The age categories are those used in English Schools’ Athletics Association competitions, which are slightly different from those used by UK Athletics).

Former TRAC junior Ellie Hume finished 2^nd in 17:29, in the Senior (Years 12 & 13) Girls’ race over 4200m, which was run at the same time as the Intermediate Girls’ event. In the Year 7 Girls' race, Emily Bond, who had been in the leading group, suffered a knee injury, forcing her to slow down in the later stages.
