Thanet Primary Schools' Cross Country 2012 - Hartsdown (28th Jan 2012)

Location: Hartsdown Park, Margate

The second round of this season's Thanet Primary Schools' Cross Country  series took place on Saturday 28th January 2012.  On a morning described as "freezing" by more than one seasoned veteran, 754 children in school years 3 to 6 took part in the eight-race programme in Hartsdown Park, Margate. 

Amongst them were seventeen members of Thanet Roadrunners AC, who produced some impressive statistics between them.  Hughie Coleman and Alex Kavanagh won the Year 5 and Year 6 boys' races respectively, (following up their Round 1 victories at Newington), whilst a further four club members took silver or bronze medals.  No less than ten TRAC juniors finished in the top 10 in these ultra-competitive events, a remarkable tally considering the average of almost 100 runners per race.

The third (and final) leg of this annual series takes place on Saturday 17th March 2012 at Palm Bay School.  If your child has not yet taken part, you may still enter them for the final race.  There will be an entry fee of £2 and the closing date for entries is Thursday 2nd March 2012. 

As the children represent their schools in this competition, entries are usually made by the PE teachers at each primary school taking part.  If you are not sure who to contact, however, speak to one of the coaches at your child's next training session.
