Running for Refugees Update
« on: November 11, 2016, 10:35:09 PM »
Thanks to all those club members who have asked recently about how my running challenge is progressing.  Today was the halfway point – my fiftieth consecutive day of running 10KM.  I started on September 28th and aim to finish with run number 100 on New Year’s Eve.

This idea came about after I volunteered for l’Auberge des Migrants in Calais during the summer holiday.  When I got back, I wanted to raise some money for the cause, but also wanted to do something a bit different with my running over the autumn and winter.

Although the refugee camp in Calais has been demolished and its former inhabitants dispersed, you will realise that the issue is far from resolved.  Updated information on the work of the charity for which I am fundraising - Help Refugees - can be found here: http://www.helprefugees.org.uk/news/after-the-jungle-thank-you/

If you would like to sponsor me on this series of runs, please do so at: https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/steveking1

Any donations would be very much appreciated and please don’t forget to Gift Aid if you are a UK taxpayer.  (For anyone interested, my times have ranged from 43:22 to 50:08 and I’m continuing to post each run here: http://www.running100days.com/RunningForRefugees/)

Many thanks for reading.
