Dr. Who? Why? Eleven as Eleven, that's why!

On Sunday, Emma Woolerton will be running her tenth race in a tweed jacket and bowtie, as she continues her Doctor Who-themed running quest. Last year, she decided to run the Cardiff half marathon dressed as the current, 11th Doctor Who - the one played by Matt Smith - in tweed, braces and bowtie, and raise a bit of money for charity (hospice care and Leonard Cheshire Disability). What with Doctor Who's 50th anniversary this year, she then decided to run 11 races in fancy dress. Nearly a year later, she’s almost done, having run four 10Ks in the tweed, and the Fosters Law Kent Coastal will be the sixth of seven half marathons.

Emma said ‘I've never run it before, but it sounds like a really beautiful course, plus my other half gets to be beside the seaside while I plod along (I'm not very fast, but these days I have a tweed jacket as an excuse...). I really like local races that help local charities, which was another thing that made the Kent Coastal appeal, with its support for the Kent Association for the Blind. I'm not sure how much I'm looking forward to the hill, but I'm definitely looking forward to the race, and am really grateful to Thanet Roadrunners for organising it and for their enthusiasm about my charity challenge.’

We wish Emma well on her run on Sunday! If you are interested in sponsoring Emma, please go to her Just Giving account at http://www.justgiving.com/11-as-11.
