Looking forward to the Fosters Law Kent Coastal Marathon & Half Marathon 2013 (1st September 2013)

The Fosters Law Kent Coastal Marathon & Half Marathon is one of the most prestigious running events in the South East, taking either 13 or 26 miles of the most stunning and picturesque sites and landscapes through Ramsgate, Margate, Broadstairs and Westgate on Sea.   The race organised by Thanet Roadrunners AC will have a large course of runners and will be held on Sunday 1st September 2013.  The race starts and finishes at Palm Bay School, Cliftonville.  Start time is 9.30am.

There will be a lot of heartwarming stories of athletes and charity runners running for charity as well as the important business of completing the race and achieving personal goals.

This year’s event, sponsored by Fosters Law will see the following:

  • TV Presenter Kaddy Lee-Preston taking part in the half marathon as part of her training for her charity trek up Kilimanjaro.  She will be trekking the distance with a loaded rucksack on her back.
  • David Drozdziak will be taking part in the half marathon as part of his attempt to run 52 half marathons this year for charity in order to raise money for a very small charity called Basic Foundations, who help organisations and community groups in low income countries get the basic necessities required to provide sanitation, shelter, health, water, food and education effectively within their communities.
  • £1 from every entry of this year’s race will be donated to The Kent Association for the Blind (http://www.kab.org.uk ) who support sight impaired people so that they can live independent lives. The charity is a major provider of help and support for blind and partially-sighted people throughout Kent, with over 12,000 people using their services. The Kent Association for the Blind will be on hand to showcase the charity and help hand out medals.

Mark Perkins, Thanet Roadrunners AC Chairman said,’ The Kent coastal marathon is always a great event and we welcome the public to get out and give the runners a cheer when they pass them on the route.   There are always a huge amount of interesting stories in an event like this’.
