Further Progress for Thanet Roadrunners AC Juniors

Two young Thanet Roadrunners AC members earned county vests on Saturday 14th December 2013, again highlighting the excellent progress made by the junior section this winter.

Under-13 boys Alex Kavanagh and Hughie Coleman represented Kent for the first time at the annual SEAA inter-counties Cross Country fixture, hosted by the Bedfordshire Athletics Association at Shuttleworth Park, near Biggleswade.

Their race saw ninety boys from the southern counties competing on a course described variously as ‘hilly grassland’ and ‘open, undulating parkland’.  Alex, who has been a major force in the Kent League fixtures this winter, finished 22nd in the 3000m race, recording a time of 11:08.  Hughie, who is a year younger and will therefore remain eligible for the same event next year, was 51st, crossing the finishing line in 11:32.
