John Flitch Memorial Mountain Bike Duathlon 2016 – final race day preparations

Advanced entries have now closed for Sunday’s race, the John Flitch Memorial Mountain Bike Duathlon. We will be accepting on the day entries - please bring along a completed entry form (one per team member) and the appropriate entry fee (£35 individual, £50 team of two, £55 team of three) to race HQ from 8.30 at Minnis Bay Sailing Club, Birchington, CT7 9QP. Each successful athlete receives a great goody bag including a sweatshirt. Entries must be 16 or over.

Competitors will need to collect their chip from race HQ between 8.30 and 10.00 on race day. There is plenty of on-street parking within a few minutes’ walk of the start area, as well as at the car park. The race will start at 10.30. Can all marshals please be at the car park by 9.30.

All profits from this event will be donated to TAG Pet Rescue, the Thanet-based charity that rescues and re-homes unwanted pets.

Please note that headphones should not be worn during the race. Marshalls will be taking race numbers and action will be taken. A helmet must be worn during the bike leg. You may use a mountain or cyclocross bike. Flippers and a snorkel may come in handy in the dykes too…..

Grant Burton will be our official race photographer on the day. Photos will be available to view and purchase from his website shortly after the race on www.grantburtonphotography.co.uk/. There will also be a drone flying above the course taking a race video of runners and riders as well, so keep an eye out for that after the event.

Very many thanks to our race sponsors for their continued support - Thanet District CouncilTMS Property ServicesSweatshop MaidstoneRAYNET, Margate Ambulance Services and all the marshals en route.

Currently looking dry on the day, but it will be bitterly cold, so do think of us marshals! And it is guaranteed to be nice and muddy, especially after last weekend’s cross country fun!
