10km for 100 days

Please see the following appeal from one of our junior coaches, Steve King, who is well into a charity challenge of running 10k every day for 100 days. Thanks.

Some club members will know that I volunteered during the summer in Calais.  On returning, I wanted to raise some money as well as find a new running challenge.

Since 23rd September 2016, therefore, I have been running 10KM every day, aiming to raise both awareness and money for the Help Refugees charity, which works in conjunction with l'Auberge des Migrants, providing direct aid to refugees in Calais and beyond.

I chose the start date so that Day 100 will be New Year’s Eve, and am over a third of the way through the challenge.   I’ve been posting screen shots from my Garmin here: http://www.running100days.com/runningforrefugees

The demolition of the refugee camp known as ‘the Jungle’ has been much in the news this week.  Rather than signalling the end of the ‘problem’, this makes the work of humanitarian charities even more vital.

If any fellow Thanet Roadrunners AC members would like to sponsor me on this quest towards 100 x 10K runs on consecutive days, please visit https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/steveking1

Any support would be hugely appreciated.

Many thanks,

Steve
