Cross Country Roundup (Nurstead Court & Rough Common)

The penultimate cross country was at Nurstead Court in Meopham.  The weather conditions were good; the mud was deep and squidgy making it very heavy on the legs. The “water splash” this year was deep but thankfully there was no ice to contend with.

There were 404 runners.  Thanet was well represented with 15 runners.  First home was Joseph Scott in 19th position with a time of 33 minutes 40 seconds. Abigail Cardwell was the first home for the ladies in 41 minutes.

Our last race of the season was at Blean Woods, Rough Common. It was cold, wet, rainy, sleeting and the sun tried to appear. The course however through the woods wasn’t too muddy.

There were 329 runners with a full team from Thanet with 16 runners. Joseph Scott was 16th, and Jack Bradley was close behind in 18th position.  Claire Greenaway was the first home for the ladies.

On behalf of Richard and myself thank you to all those that gave up their Sunday morning to attend and participate in the cross countries this has been a very well attended season for Thanet Roadrunners. Well done to Steve Forshaw, Ade Neaves and Claire Greenaway for attending all of the races.

And lastly, thank you to Ade Neaves for reliably making rocky road for each race and providing the coffee it is much appreciated after those cold runs.

Richard and I look forward to our next team events at the Road relay series starting in May 2018.
