Looking forward to the Kent Coastal Marathon & Half Marathon Sponsored by Fosters Law

The Kent Coastal Marathon & Half Marathon sponsored by Fosters Law is one of the most prestigious running events in the South East, taking either 13 or 26 miles of the most stunning and picturesque sights and landscapes through Ramsgate, Margate, Broadstairs and Westgate-on-Sea.   The race organised by Thanet Roadrunners AC is considered to be one of the friendliest marathons to take part in and will see a large number of serious athletes as well as charity runners.  The event starts at 9.30am on Sunday 7th September 2014, beginning and finishing at Palm Bay School, Cliftonville.

There will be a lot of heart-warming stories of athletes and charity runners running for charity as well as the important business of completing the race and achieving personal goals.

Highlights for this marathon so far include

  • Gina Little from the 100 Marathon club, running her 500th marathon.
  • Closer to home, Julie Wing of Maidstone Harriers is making this race her 300th marathon
  • Robert Young who is currently on course to set a World Record for the most consecutive marathons in a year.  Robert has a moving story behind his motivation to raise money for a number of charities including 'Dreams Come True' and 'Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity'.  You can follow his story on his website and via his Facebook page :,

In addition to this, £1 from every entry will be donated to the race's official charity, Thanet Disabled Riding Centre The centre was set up by Nora Setterfield 38 years ago and is a self-contained riding school in the grounds of Maurice House, Broadstairs. The centre caters for approximately 60 disabled people each week, seeing a large proportion  coming from local special needs schools, such as The Foreland, Bromstone, St Anthony's and the Royal School for the Deaf in Margate.

Debbie Hatt, Race Director said,’ The Kent coastal marathon is always a great event and we welcome the public to get out and give the runners a cheer when they pass them on the route.   There are always a huge amount of interesting stories in an event like this’.
