Harvel 5 and Club Champs

Fourteen TRACcies ran in the latest championship race, the seventh of the ten in the 2012 Kent Grand Prix series, as they travelled to the Harvel 5 mile race yesterday. Chris Brenchley was first home in 31.13, placing him 52nd of the 630 finishers, ahead of Steve King and Adrian Waters. Stephen Forshaw just got the better of Steve Clarke, who set a new 5mile best – his 4th of the year. Becky Williams was first lady home, ahead of Sarah Harmes and Debbie Hatt. Congratulations to Shayne Brenchley who completed her first race for the club, and also to Bill Wright who was running his second race of the day after the earlier Park Run! Thanks to Chris for the photos on the race page.

What this means for the 2012 Kent Grand Prix, I’ll have in due course, but the updated standings in the club championships are in this file.

For the men, Andy Stevens still leads the way, but Steve King is only 29 points behind with a race in hand, and Chris is just 2 points further back. Stephen Forshaw currently sits in third, but has now run six races and will need to score more than 21 to increase his points tally further. Steve King and Chris are hotly contesting the v40, as are Steve Clarke and John Cooper – John needs 25 points from his race in hand to draw level. Bill Wright is the 4th man to have run in six races so far, and moves into 10th place overall for his efforts, and keeps the pressure on Terry in the v60!

As for the ladies, the top three overall are unchanged, with Sarah leading Debbie and Pam, but in the senior ladies, Gen Holden is just one point ahead of Becky. Pam’s some way clear in the v45, and Shayne’s debut has put her on the podium in the v35.

Next up is the Dartford Half Marathon on 22nd July, so put the date in the diary!
