Park Running Around All Over

The Whitstable Parkrun has been a happy hunting ground for Thanet Roadrunners AC members since its inception in November 2010.  To date, 37 individual TRAC members have completed 414 runs - with Terry Brightwell (73 runs) leading the way numerically from Bill Wright (62 runs).  Paul Tomlinson's 19:05 on New Year's Eve 2012 remains the fastest time yet recorded by a club member.

What some may not realise, is that once you have registered on the Parkrun website, you can run at any of the other Parkrun events around the country and even abroad.

On Saturday 2nd June 2012, TRAC Junior Tom Winch, along with mum Nicola, became the first TRAC participants in the Bromley Parkrun.

Tom finished an excellent 26th overall of the 316 runners.  In running 19:58, he was second in the JM 14 category.

Nicola, meanwhile, clocked 29:06 and finished 12th in her own age category.

A comparison of the event histories reveals that Bromley is certainly a faster course that Whitstable, but for any junior to break 20:00 over any measured 5K is an achievement to be proud of.  Well done Tom!

As the summer months find many of us travelling to different parts of the country, why not check out if there's a local Parkrun before you go?  And if you do take part, make sure you report back!
