Update - 145-mile Grand Union Canal Race

Despite far from ideal running conditions with wind, rain and cool temperatures both Pete Johnson and John Poole completed the 145-mile Grand Union Canal Race.  Pete holds the record for the number of finishes achieved in this race over the years (9 in total) and this year completed in 38 hours 29 minutes. John, who is also a multiple finisher, was a little faster and came in 3 places further up the field in 38 hours 3 minutes. Well done gents - a fantastic effort.

John Cooper had also started at the race however unfortunately a slip in the underfoot conditions around the 95-mile mark gave him a groin injury and he was unable to continue.  John ended up spending the night in Stoke Mandeville hospital and a scan diagnosed a torn rectus femoris (top of thigh / groin) muscle so he is currently confined to getting around on crutches.
