Alan Green Memorial 10 mile - provisional results

Congratulations to all runners in this morning’s Alan Green Memorial 10 mile race. There were 314 finishers, and I’m sure you’ll agree the wind certainly made for a tough second half - at least the rain held off, though! We’d like to say a big thank you to Thanet District Council, Highways and Breheny Construction for their help with the road closure in Margate, and to Margate Ambulance and Raynet for course supervision, without which we would not have been able to host the race. I’d better not forget the weather, either, for not snowing this time.....

Men’s first prize was claimed by Sittingbourne Strider’s Anthony Jackson, who clocked a very impressive 54.43, almost 4 minutes clear of Carl Jones (Ashford and District AC). Third place went to David Hollidge (unattached), who finished just outside the hour. Paddock Wood’s Tina Oldershaw was first lady home, in 62.46, again four minutes clear of second placed Sarah Gruber (unattached),a short way ahead of Larkfield’s Sarah Mooney. Apologies to the first three ladies – your trophies will be following in the post, as will those for any other prizewinners who missed the award.

The team prizes went to Ashford and District, for the men, and to Maidstone’s ladies.

Please see the following links to the results - if there are any queries with the results please email thanetrace@yahoo.co.uk. If anyone has any photos they’d like to share, please mail them to webmaster@thanetroadrunners.org.uk.

Well done everyone – hope to see you again next year!

As for Thanet Roadrunnesr Athletics Club members, we had a mammoth 30 finishers (sorry Jerry!).  Steve King was first club man home in 12th, while Gen Holden topped the club ladies in 84th. Despite conditions, there were a few new personal bests, for yours truly, Becky Williams, Mark Chapman and Debbie Hatt at least (apologies to anyone else who also managed the feat!), while Nicola Winch completed her first ever race.
