Emily's Enjoying the Cross Country

Emily Bond has been busy the last week – she put in a great run at Parliament Hill in London in the National Cross Country Championships on 25th Feb. On the challenging 3k course, she finished 85th of the 368 runners, in a time on 13.06. She then followed that up with an excellent 5th in wintry conditions in the National Prep Schools’ Cross Country Championships in Worcestershire, after leading at halfway. Then, running for Wellesley House on Tuesday, Emily won the Wainman Cup girls' cross country race at Northbourne Park School for the second year running.  The course was particularly muddy after Monday's persistent rain and the field was stronger than normal for this event, boosted by a well-prepared team from Sevenoaks School, who filled the second, third, fourth and fifth places.  Emily ran an excellent tactical race, tracking the leader for the first three hundred metres before putting on a spurt to take the lead going into the woods.  After that, she was never headed and came up the hill towards the finish well clear of the others.

She and Tilly Ellis-Jarman are heading up to the National Inter-Counties Cross-Country Championships at Cofton Park in Birmingham on Saturday, so best of luck girls!
