More Junior Action

Junior members of Thanet Roadrunners AC have been involved in three track and field fixtures over the past week.

Amber Guyatt was at the Kent Young Athletes League fixture at Erith on Sunday 1st July, representing Thanet AC.  She ran 2:43.2 in her 800m race and 14.2s for the 75m hurdles.  She also threw 7.84m in her first competitive 3KG Hammer Throw event.

On Monday 2nd July, Emily Bond returned to Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium, where she won the U12 National Prep Schools’ 800m title last year.  Although she only came second this time around, Emily recorded a new PB of 2:27.72, attaining Grade 1 on the U13 AAA Standards.  She also gained Grade 4 in the High Jump, clearing 1m 25cm to come equal ninth.

The following day, Caine Moir and Bobby Harrop travelled to the Tonbridge AC Avril Bowring open meeting.  Caine ran 4:59.56 in winning his 1500 race, his second consecutive U13 Grade 3 performance at the distance.  Bobby (U17) finished second in his 400m race in 58.60 – it seems a long time ago now that he was so desperately trying to break 60.0s!

Round 4 of Thanet AC’s U11 Open Series takes place at the Marlowe Academy, Ramsgate on Friday 13th July 2012 at 18:00.

Invicta East Kent AC hosts an open meeting for athletes of all ages on Wednesday 18th July 2012.  This is at Canterbury High School from 18:15.

Speak to your coaches at training if you would like information on these or other track & field competitions during the summer.
