Kent Grand Prix 2010 Round Up

Following the postponement of our Thanet 10 race last weekend, the Kent Grand Prix for 2010 has been completed following nine races.

Both teams improved on last year’s placing, with the men finishing 4th, their highest finish since 3rd in 2005, and the ladies in 10th. Tunbridge Wells Harriers and Maidstone Harriers retained the men’s and ladies team trophies. For full details, please see the 2010 Championship page.

In the individual events, David Hall was pick of the men, finishing 14th. There were four other club runners in the top 50 – Mark Terry (31st), Andy Stevens (38th), Ed Heardman (44th) and Steve Suttle (46th), although Andy and Steve only ran in three races each.

In the veteran’s categories, Mark Terry finished 14th in the V40, with Adrian Waters the only other Roadrunner to score in more than 1 race. Steve Suttle was 3rd in the V50 and Bill Wright 12th in the V60.

For the ladies, Tracey-Anne van der Merwe came 46th, with Genevieve Holden 53rd and Julia Hermitage 69th. That left Tracey-Anne in 16th in the V45, just ahead of Kay Bailey (19th) and Karen Daniels (27th). Gaynor Shelvey was our sole scorer on the V55.

Well done everyone for taking part this year!

Onto the 2011 Kent Grand Prix, which kicks off on 30th January with Canterbury’s 10 mile race. This is also the first club championships race of 2011, so make sure you get your entry in!
