Kent Track and Field Championships - Day 1

Three of the Junior boys represented Thanet Roadrunners AC at the Julie Rose Stadium, Ashford, on Saturday 12th May 2012.  Tom Winch, Rob Morris and Bobby Harrop were competing on the first day of the KCAA Main Track & Field Championships.

Tom and Rob both emerged from their respective 1500m races with new Personal Best times, Tom in his first 1500m of the season and Rob knocking almost two seconds off his time at the recent Invicta East Kent Open.

Rob and Bobby then contested separate heats of the 400m event, and each qualified for the final later in the afternoon.  This was their first experience of running a heat and a final on a track programme, but they managed their nerves well, both finishing with new PBs, just as Tom had several hours earlier.

The TRAC athletes' full performances from Day 1 were as follows:

1500m U15 Boys (final):   Tom Winch 5:21.83 (13th)

1500m U17 Men (heat):   Rob Morris 4:35.41

400m U17 Men (heat):   Bobby Harrop 59.82s*

400m U17 Men (heat):   Rob Morris 57.51s*

400m U17 Men (final):   Rob Morris 57.10s (7th)

400m U17 Men (final):   Bobby Harrop 58.46s (8th)

(* denotes qualification for the final as a fastest loser.)
