Schools' Triathlon

The Thanet Schools’ Triathlon was held at St Lawrence College on Sunday 8th July 2012, bringing together pupils from both primary and secondary schools across the isle. Three Thanet Roadrunners AC members were among the competitors who swam, biked and ran in the event co-organised by Thanet Swim Club, Thanet Go-Ride and Thanet AC.

The years 5 and 6 children started with a 76m swim, transitioned into a 1.4Km bike ride and finished with a 700m run. Beth Williams (Dame Janet) was the first Year 5 girl by quite some way, with an overall time of 9:13, whilst Jon Hart (Upton) was 8th Year 5 boy in 10:06.

Bea Lever (Clarendon) tackled the longer 114m swim, 2.1Km cycling leg and 1.05Km run – clocking 12:43 as the first Year 7 girl.

St Lawrence has one of the oldest school pools in the country – predating metric measurement by several decades – hence the strange distances for the swims!
