North Downs 30K

The ever popular North Downs 30K off road took place 2 weekends ago and as usual attracted a number of Thanet Roadrunners looking for something a little bit different.

This is an undulating multi-terrain course made more difficult this year by humid weather conditions but there were still 477 finishers in this edition.  For Thanet Roadrunners there was a bit of a family coup with the 1stthree TRAC runners home all being members of the Hall family – Chris being 1sthome in 2 hours 36 minutes 33 seconds for 96thplace overall just ahead of brother Matthew with dad Derek coming in 3rdTRAC in 3:06:08.

One unexpected and unwanted event this year however was the shooting of 3 competitors, including John Cooper of Thanet Roadrunners, which organisers believe was carried out by some youths with air guns.  Luckily nobody involved was seriously injured and in fact John carried on to finish in 325thplace in a time of 3 hours 10 minutes exactly.

Thanet Roadrunner Finishers:

Chris Hall 2:36:33 (96th); Matthew Hall 2:36:47 (98th); Derek Hall 3:06:08 (303rd); John Cooper 3:10:00 (325th); Mark Foster 3:16:53 (347th); Cliff Stokes 3:20:43 (364th); Karen Daniels 3:25:08 (387th); Symon Barkway 3:31:17 (408th); Barbara Gambrill 3:58:06 (452nd)
