Canterbury 10
The 2012 Kent Grand Prix and Club Championships kicked off earlier today with the Canterbury 10 mile (full results). Although rather damp just before the race, leading to some hefty puddles, conditions were good for running, for the 24 TRAC runners tackling the course.
With 889 finishers, Steve King was first back in 43rd and 63.49, a minute ahead of Andy Stevens 9 places behind, with two minutes back to new club member Chris Brenchley, 84th on his debut. Gen Holden led the ladies back in 289th with 75.45, six minutes ahead of Sarah Harmes, Debbie Hatt and Delphi Lever. Steve King and Steve Suttle were both 11th the v40 and v50 categories.
It was a good day for new personal bests, for Darren Ellis, Andy Carter (who knocked 13 minutes from last year’s time!), Steve Clarke (still getting quicker after 28 years of running!), Stephen Forshaw, Adrian Speller (on his first road race, having run well in the cross country season) and Delphi Lever. Quite possibly some others – apologies if I’ve missed any! Just a 2 minute course record for me!
Well done everyone - we’ll have the fallout for the Grand Prix, and the Club Champs in a few day, but full TRAC results below. Next up is the Deal Half Marathon on 12th February – another local-ish race, so get those entries in! Eleven of us are in already - postal entries are open until the 5th Feb.
