Pam Philpot to Run the London Marathon for Sense - National Deafblind and Rubella Association

Pam Philpot is running the 2015 Virgin London Marathon for Sense.  Sense is the UK's largest organisation offering support to deafblind people and their families. Established in 1955 as a parent's support group, Sense now offers a range of services - including, advice, housing, education and practical help to children and adults who are both deaf and blind.

Pam said, 'Having worked as a midwife and in Special Care Baby Unit for many years, I have nursed babies who have been born with Congenital Rubella Syndrome. This is a condition that occurs in an infant whose mother is infected with the virus that causes German measles. Many will have hearing loss, cataracts, other eye conditions, brain trauma and heart problems that require significant hospital treatment and will affect the child ( and their family) throughout their life. '

She added, 'Training for the London Marathon is always a lot of hard work, but I am just happy to be running for the club and Sense….it's not the biggest charity around, so every little helps.'

Everyone at the club wishes Pam every success with her training and fundraising.
