Personal Bests for Thanet Roadrunners at the 20th Halstead & Essex Marathon

Six Thanet Roadrunners took part in the Halstead and Essex Marathon on Sunday 11 May 2014 with five of the six runners achieving personal bests.  It was John Hunts first ever marathon and everyone at the club is very proud about the progress he has made over the last 18 month.

The Halstead & Essex Marathon is run through the Essex countryside, entirely on roads (apart from a 400m stretch in the last mile). The course has some hills but is considered an attractive course for experienced and new marathon runners alike.

John Hunt said, ‘The Halstead & Essex Marathon was my first ever marathon. It was a pretty tough course but the Essex countryside was absolutely stunning.  Even though it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, I loved every moment of it…even the few blips on the way round when I got crippling cramp in both legs.  Thanks to all my family, friends and all of my second family from Thanet roadrunners.  I couldn’t have done it without your awesome support.’

Ian Lockyer of Thanet Roadrunners said, ‘Everyone at the club are very proud of each or the runners who took part on Sunday. They all put a huge effort in throughout their training which was rewarded with excellent times!’
