Sutton Secures Second Place at Minnis Bay Cross Country Race

Just over 350 runners from all over the county took part in the Minnis Bay Cross Country Race on Sunday 18th January 2015. The race, organised by Thanet Roadrunners AC forms round six of the Kent ‘Cross Country’ Fitness League, a series of Winter cross country races taking place over the whole of Kent.

A team of 16 Roadrunners lined up to start on the beach to tackle the mud and dykes of this exceptionally challenging race.  After half a mile on the beach the runners then clambered up a shingle bank to then tackle five and a half miles of very wet and very slippery mud including five deep water filled dykes.

First home was Noel Sutton (seen in the picture on the right) in an excellent 2nd place which helped the men's team finish in 14th place out of 18 teams. First home for the ladies was Delphi Lever in 236th place helping the ladies to15th place. Overall in the series the men sit in14th place, the ladies in 17th and the combined team are 15th.
