Top Five Positions for Thanet Roadrunners Duo at Martello Marathon

Two excellent performances were achieved by two Thanet Roadrunners at the weekend's Martello Marathon.  Both John Hunt & Bradley Cameron achieved personal bests, despite challenging strong winds along the Saxon Shore Way course in Folkestone.  The scenic coastal route  comprised four 6.55 mile loops run partly on the promenade, the coastal path and the sea defence walls heading towards several Martello Towers between Folkestone and Hythe as well as running past Sandgate Castle.

Both runners were placed in the top five with Bradley coming an impressive second in an time of 03:08:23.  John finishing fifth with a time of 03:18:29.

Bradley said, 'The marathon was really well organised and I couldn’t be happier to come second with the time I achieved.'

John Hunt added, ' The wind was against us heading outwards so we had to make the most of the return sections with the wind behind us.  I was really happy with my performance and despite the wind slowing me down.  I managed to amble home in 5th place with a time of 3:18 which is a 20 minute personal best and 12 minutes better than my target time… so I was very happy.
