Kent Fitness League


The cross country season comprises of 7 races across the county. They are hosted by different running clubs who take part in the series. Thanet roadrunners generally host in January from Minnis Bay. Full rules are on the link, but it is for non-elite athletes (sub-34 10K men and sub-38 10K women are barred). Each individual will be ranked for every race but also across the league. For a full combined team, we need at least 12 runners - four ladies (including at least one over 35, and one over 45) and 8 men (including at least one over 40 and two over 50). So, the more runners we have out the better chance we have of scoring highly! Due to the success of the competition in recent years, there will be no guest runners.

As a member of Thanet Roadrunners the club pays for your £2 entry fee. The captains will organise car shares where possible making it a social outing for all. As an individual you will need to be wearing your TRAC vest and you will need trail shoes for the extra stability in the mud.

In preparation for the season there will be a training run around our course at Minnis Bay Sunday 21st October at 8am. This will replace Derek’s run from his house. The route is under 6 miles, you are welcome to do a few miles before or after to increase if you are wanting a longer run. This training session will be suitable for all abilities, whether you are new to cross country or a seasoned racer. It is a great way to come and have a go without the pressures of racing.

11th November 2018                 Swanley Park, Swanley

25th November 2018                 Oxleas Wood, Eltham

9th December 2018                    Fowlmead, Deal

6th January 2019                         Nurstead Court, Meopham

13th January 2019                       Minnis Bay, Birchington

3rd February 2019                      Rough Common, Canterbury


All races start at 11am, at 5 to 6 miles each. There will be spot raffles prizes at the end of each race. There will be junior races of 2 to 3½ miles, starting at 10.15am. There will not be a race at Oxleas Woods or Nurstead Court.
