Grand Union Canal Run 2012 (2nd Jun 2012)

Start time: 6.00

Location: Gas Street Basin, Birmingham

Despite far from ideal running conditions with wind, rain and cool temperatures both Pete Johnson and John Poole completed the 145-mile Grand Union Canal Race.  Pete holds the record for the number of finishes achieved in this race over the years and this year completed in 38 hours 29 minutes. John, who is also a multiple finisher, was a little faster and came in 3 places further up the field in 38 hours 3 minutes. Well done gents - a fantastic effort.  John Cooper had also started at the race however unfortunately a slip in the underfoot conditions gave him a groin injury and he was unable to continue and ended up with hypothermia whilst waiting to be picked up off the course.

Photos thanks to Oliver Cooper.
