Thanet Roadrunners Tackle the Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon 18th February

Five Thanet Roadrunners ran the 35th Tunbridge Wells Half on a bright, sunny and relatively windless day in the Kentish Weald on Sunday, 18th February 2018.  A field of 1417 runners took on the undulating, testing route out of the town, into the picturesque surrounding countryside, ascended the demanding 300 foot Spring Hill at Fordcombe and heading back into town via some (thankfully) downhill stretches.

David Winch led the Thanet athletes home with a 1:34 time easily taking the prize for fastest V70.  Steve Suttle posted a strong 1:36:35 with Claire Greenaway following up with a commendable 1:48:32.  Mark Hadden did a course PB of 1:54:04; Phil Cope showed his London Marathon training is well on track with a steady 2:05:47 even finding time to brighten up the course with an impromptu nose-bleed.

Excellent organisation by Tunbridge Wells Harriers and good performances by the Thanet Roadrunner contingent made this a delightful trip to the posh side of Kent.

The next on the list for Kent Champs is the Dartford Half Marathon – 11th March.
