Ashford East Kent Road Relays report

Last Tuesday took us to Ashford’s Victoria Park on Tuesday evening which again was very well attended; as usual a good mixture of runners from the various clubs in the area who were there to enjoy themselves and run for their club and included some very fast racers. We had a good turnout from both the ladies and the men’s teams, once again fielding teams across most of the age categories.

The weather doesn’t seem to be quite understanding the concept of Summer, with a chill in the air but once everyone got running we all warmed up pretty quickly and it was an almost perfect running temperature. The course itself encompassed two laps of part of Victoria Park with a bit extra in the middle to take it up to about 2.5 miles, the course is relatively flat with a bit of an uphill towards the halfway mark and once again on the second lap just before the finish stretch so it is a course that we could all push ourselves on!

Once again, looking through the results, the runners from TRAC had a strong run and clearly worked hard to get the well-deserved great times. Notably, the ladies’ teams had another great evening with a particularly strong race from the Senior team finishing third.

It was great to see many familiar faces and also to welcome runners that are relatively new to the club and we hope that you all had a fun time both running and supporting your team mates.

The next leg of the relays is on Tuesday 26th June at Samphire Hoe and we’d encourage anyone that wants to run to speak with Richard Purton or Claire Greenaway, the team captains for the men’s and ladies' teams as we are sure you will have great fun.
