Deal Dinosaur 10k Report

Sunday 22 July

The 37th Deal Dinosaur 10K was organised by Deal Tri club and timed by Nice Work. It was a very warm day on the sea front. The route itself starts from the Scout Hut and takes you along the promenade to Walmer, around the country lanes which are a little undulating. The final 4k is back on the seafront and along the promenade which is fast and flat. The conditions were not great for racing this year with the temperature somewhere in the 30s, it was hot! There was some shade in the country lanes with a little breeze which was quite welcome. This breeze was then behind us for the last 4k so the sea front just felt even hotter. The locals were out cheering everyone on with a welcome sprinkler helping  to cool runners  down a little. Post race some of the TRACies headed to the sea for a cool off /recovery swim.

There were 402 runners racing. 21 Thanet Roadrunners attended the race. First home for the men’s was Andy Stevens in 39:44. Maria Skinner was first home for the ladies in an overall position of 4th lady and 1st in her age category. Steve Suttle was 1st in his age category. We had one first time runner for the club, welcome Ellis Johnson who has been training for many months with us now.

Well done to all who ran in such hot conditions.
