Club Championships Update

I’ve updated the standings in the 2012 Club Championship after the Marathon. A number of prizes have been wrapped up with just one race to go. However, there’s still a fair bit to be settled.

Steve King’s win on Sunday moved him two points clear of Andy Stevens in the men’s overall. Andy needs to win at Maidstone to draw level on points. Adrian Waters sits third, but Chris Brenchley could take that from him. First and second in the men’s senior are settled, but anyone could finish 3rd ahead of Alex Horsley. Steve has the v40 title, but Chris can take second from Adrian, and push Stephen Forshaw out of the medals. The v50 is going to the wire, as John Cooper pulled level with Steve Clarke. John has the slight advantage, with a lowest scoring run one point lower than Steve. Steve Suttle continued his marathon appearance streak despite injury and sits 3rd, with only another Steve (Jones) capable of taking that spot. In the v60, Terry Brightwell still needs to run at Maidstone to make sure of beating Bill Wright. Mick Hall is in line for 3rd unless Philip Cope travels to Maidstone.

The ladies 1-2-3 will be Sarah Harmes, Debbie Hatt and Pam Philpot. Becky Williams can win the senior Ladies ahead of Genevieve Holden, and Donna Perkins needs to run to guarantee third spot. Shayne Brenchley could yet take third from Julia Hermitage in the v35. Pam has the v45 title in the bag, and anyone of Gaynor Shelvey, Barbara Gambrill and Carol Walker could claim the v55 trophy.

In any case, it’d be good for a strong show at Maidstone on 14th October! Grand Prix latest to follow in due course.
