TRAC Stays out of the Doghouse!

TRAC’s first home fixture of the season is always the Thanet Mountainbike Duathlon which is held in early January and this year was no exception. Each year a charity is chosen to be the recipient of a donation from the proceeds of the race and this year Race Director Phil Kinnill chose the local RSPCA branch, the RSPCA Woodchurch Animal Centre and was recently able to present them with a cheque for £500. Kate Matthews, Voluntary Press & Publicity Co-ordinator of the branch thanked Phil and the club members for choosing the RSPCA and said “we will put this money towards a much needed dog exercise area which we are contemplating building as soon as the money becomes available. Although we only have 4 kennels at present the dogs desperately need some free play and training which cannot be done at the moment as they have to be walked on leads.”

The next off road race put on by TRAC is the Harbour Wallbanger which will take place on Sunday 17th July starting at 0900 on the beach at Broadstairs. The race is approximately 7K long and goes along the beach to the harbour at Ramsgate and back again and again all profits will be donated to a local charity – this year’s beneficiary will be the Friends of Kingfisher Children’s Charity. Entries can be made via Runners World or by downloading an entry form from the club website, at
